Couples often ask what actually happens between booking their florist and walking down the aisle. It’s a fair question — full-service floral design involves far more steps than most people realize, and understanding the process makes it easier to know what to expect at each stage. Here’s how we design luxury weddings across South Florida, from the very first consultation through breakdown on the wedding night.

Step 1
The Consultation

Every wedding starts with a conversation, not a quote. During the initial consultation, we talk through the couple’s venue, guest count, overall vision, and the moments that matter most to them — whether that’s a dramatic ceremony installation, an heirloom detail worked into the bouquet, or a specific color they’ve been dreaming about. We also walk through practical factors specific to South Florida: the venue’s indoor and outdoor spaces, expected weather for the season, and any site restrictions that might affect design, particularly at historic or landmark properties.

Step 2
Inspiration Boards

From that conversation, we build an inspiration board that translates the couple’s vision into a visual language — palette, bloom types, textures, and reference imagery drawn both from the couple’s own inspiration and from our own portfolio of prior weddings. For South Florida clients, we also draw directly on the architecture and setting of their specific venue, since a board built around a Mediterranean-style courtyard looks nothing like one built around a modern oceanfront ballroom, even with a similar palette.

Step 3
The Proposal

Once the direction is set, we prepare a full design proposal — a detailed breakdown of every floral element across the day, from bridal party personals to ceremony installations, reception centerpieces, and any specialty pieces like a hanging installation or floral entrance moment. Each element is priced individually so couples can see exactly where their investment is going and make informed decisions about where to allocate more or less budget.

Step 4
Revisions

Almost no proposal is approved exactly as first presented, and that’s by design. This stage is where couples adjust scale, swap in a different bloom, shift the palette warmer or cooler, or rebalance the budget toward the elements that matter most to them. We build at least one full round of revisions into every proposal, because the best designs almost always come from that back-and-forth rather than a single first draft.

Step 5
Flower Sourcing

Once the design is finalized, sourcing begins — and this step looks different depending on the bloom. Certain tropical varieties suited to South Florida’s climate can be sourced regionally, while premium garden roses, ranunculus, and other specialty stems are typically ordered through wholesale flower markets and imported specifically for the wedding date, timed to arrive at peak freshness. Sourcing for a South Florida wedding also means planning around the region’s heat and humidity from the start, choosing varieties and mechanics that will hold up through a full day outdoors.

Step 6
Installation

Installation day is where months of planning become physical. Our team arrives at the venue with a detailed floor plan and installation schedule, building everything from arch structures and aisle markers to reception centerpieces and any large-scale installations, all timed around the venue’s own setup schedule and any other vendors working the same spaces. For installations that move between spaces — a ceremony arch repurposed for the reception, for instance — this stage also includes coordinating the physical relocation during the gap between ceremony and reception.

Step 7
Breakdown

At the end of the night, our team returns to the venue to handle breakdown — removing all floral structures, containers, and mechanics, and leaving the space exactly as we found it. Many couples choose to have select arrangements donated to a local organization after the wedding, gifted to guests as they depart, or set aside for preservation as a keepsake, and we coordinate all of that logistics as part of the breakdown process.
