Cascading white orchids in a bridal bouquet, cymbidium stems lining an aisle, or orchid clusters worked into a ceremony installation all give a Miami wedding a sense of tropical sophistication without leaning into a beachy or casual aesthetic.

Tropical Elegance

The biggest shift I’ve seen in Miami floral design over the past few years is the move from purely tropical to what I’d call tropical elegance — architectural blooms like anthuriums, orchids, and monstera leaf, but arranged with the same intentionality and structure you’d expect from a more classic European-inspired design. Instead of loose, beachy arrangements, this look uses those same tropical elements in cleaner lines and more sculptural shapes, which suits Miami’s design-forward hotels and event spaces far better than a traditional luau aesthetic ever could.

Candlelight

Candlelight continues to play a central role in Miami reception design, especially for evening celebrations at waterfront and rooftop venues where the city skyline or bay views become part of the backdrop after sunset. Clusters of taper and pillar candles integrated directly into low centerpieces create the warm glow that lets a room feel finished once natural light fades, and they let a more restrained floral design still read as rich and layered through dinner and dancing.

Textured Florals

Rather than uniform, single-bloom arrangements, Miami couples are increasingly drawn to florals built around contrast — pairing smooth, waxy anthuriums against soft garden roses, or airy amaranthus against dense clusters of ranunculus.
