People sometimes ask why a floral studio built on Newport’s cobblestone streets and coastal mansions would also design weddings hundreds of miles south, along Palm Beach’s oceanfront resorts and Miami’s waterfront estates. The honest answer is that the two places have far more in common than their distance on a map would suggest — and once I started designing in South Florida, that overlap became impossible to ignore.

Why Newport and Palm Beach Naturally Complement Each Other

Newport and Palm Beach both built their identities as Gilded Age playgrounds for America’s wealthiest families — Newport with its mansions along Bellevue Avenue, Palm Beach with its Mediterranean and Italian Renaissance resorts along the Atlantic. Both towns have spent more than a century perfecting the art of the grand celebration, and both are built around a similar rhythm: historic architecture meeting the ocean, and hospitality that treats every detail as worth getting right. Designing in both places doesn’t feel like working in two different markets so much as working in two expressions of the same underlying sensibility.

A Shared Appreciation for Timeless Architecture, Coastal Beauty, and Luxury Celebrations

What ties our work in Newport to our work in Palm Beach and Miami is the same eye for architecture and setting, applied to two very different climates. A Newport ceremony overlooking the Atlantic at Castle Hill Inn and a Palm Beach ceremony on The Breakers’ Ocean Lawn are, in some ways, the same design problem wearing different weather — both ask a florist to work with grand, storied architecture and an ocean backdrop that’s already doing significant visual work before a single flower arrives. The coastal light is different, the climate demands are different, but the underlying design instinct — respect the architecture, work with the water rather than against it, know when to let the setting lead — carries directly from one region to the other.

A Broader Creative Perspective

Designing across two distinct regions has pushed our studio’s work in ways that staying in a single market never would have. South Florida’s heat and humidity demand a completely different approach to bloom selection and floral mechanics than New England’s cooler, more temperate climate — and learning to solve for both has made our floral engineering more resilient everywhere we work. Miami’s more design-forward, art-conscious aesthetic has also sharpened our eye for color and sculptural form, ideas that now show up in our New England work too, just as Newport’s more classic, architecturally reverent sensibility informs how we approach historic South Florida properties like Vizcaya. Working in both places doesn’t split our creative focus — it deepens it.

Serving Destination Couples With Confidence

Many of our couples don’t live full-time in either Newport or Palm Beach — they’re planning a destination wedding in one region while living, working, or spending part of the year in the other. Having genuine, firsthand design experience in both places means we can speak to a couple’s vision with real specificity, whether they’re picturing an Ocean Lawn ceremony at The Breakers or a Bellevue Avenue mansion reception in Newport.
